Emulating the talent and skills of their former tennis world No.1 parents, Cruz Hewitt and Brandon Holt set the courts alight at the Canberra International.
Holt, the son of three-time major title winner Tracy Austin, faced the 16-year-old son of Australian great Lleyton Hewitt in the round one qualifying clash.
The 26-year-old American’s experience came into play late in the first set, defeating Hewitt 7-6 (11-9), 6-1.

But it was not as simple as it may seem for Holt to achieve the victory, having been down 5-2 in the first set.
Hewitt gained early control of the match before Holt unleashed his comeback plan, with the young Aussie holding onto set points in the tiebreaker on multiple occasions.
With over 1000 rank positions and a 10-year age gap between the pair, Hewitt drew comparison to his star father from journalists and onlookers in the crowd.
His impressive power of serve has made him a strong contender in the junior competitions. But it could not save him from bundling out early in the Australian Open boys’ singles tournament in January.
Ranked No.198, the young Aussie is set to follow in his father’s footsteps and take on the challenge of the Australian Open qualifying.
His father, who is currently captaining Australia’s United Cup team in Sydney, debuted through qualification at Melbourne Park 28 years ago at age 15.
Hewitt will return to action at Melbourne Park next week, while Holt will face Canadian Alexis Galarneau in the next round in Canberra.
