National Youth Service was established as part of the transition process of the Nation of Kenya from a Colony to a National State.
Notably, NYS was then initially established to support and resettle young Kenyans who had been disadvantaged owing to the struggle for independence.
The agency was further charged with the responsibility of training young men and women to serve the nation and the deployment of service members in tasks of national importance and service to the nation.
