Pat Cummins conceded the ODI loss to the Pakistan on Friday was one of Australia’s worst performances, handing Pakistan a chance of upsetting the reigning world champions on home turf.
Pakistan hammered Australia by nine wickets in Adelaide on Friday in a lopsided clash following Australia’s tight two-wicket victory in Melbourne on Monday.
“It wasn’t one of our best days,” Cummins said during the post-match presentation.

“Today was right up there as one of our worst unfortunately.”
The ODI winning streak that began in India in October last year in the World Cup was smashed with Pakistan dominating on both sides of the ball.
Haris Rauf took 5-29 and Saim Ayub scored 82 runs while Australia was 163 all out in 35 overs against Rauf’s pace and Ayub hammered half a dozen sixes and five fours as Pakistan cruised to 169-1 in 26.3 overs.
Cricket great Mark Waugh said it seemed like the Aussies “relaxed” while mentioning their poor batting was becoming a trend.
“Maybe Australia thought it was a 280 pitch and just relaxed a bit. All of a sudden, you are in a bit of a hole,” Waugh said.
Pakistan openers Ayub and Shafique were criticised for their low scores of late but they put it together against Australia’s pace attack with a match-winning stand of 137 runs.
Ayub took his time against fast bowlers Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc before he grew in confidence and flicked Pat Cummins, Starc and Aaron Hardie for sixes and also smashed Zampa for two big hits.
“He has put on a clinic with some clean hitting. This is a demolition job,” Waugh said.
“It is amazing what a bit of confidence does. They are just in the zone and backing their instincts.
“He is a talent, Ayub. A real talent. You forget he is only 22. He has his whole career ahead of him.”
The Aussies will be captained by Josh Inglis in the last game of the series in Perth with Starc, Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Cummins and Hazlewood all rested.
