The Boomers may have suffered a heartbreaking overtime loss to crash out of the Olympics, but the Opals are still in the running for a medal as they face Serbia in the quarter-finals.

Unlike the Boomers, who opened their Olympic campaign with a win before losing three straight, the Opals were sluggish and turnover-prone in a tournament-opening defeat to Nigeria but have since rebounded with back-to-back victories.

The 79-72 win over the previously-unbeaten France saw the Opals book their spot in the final eight, while the margin of victory also saw them avoid a dreaded quarter-final meeting with the USA.

Instead, the Opals come up against World No. 10 Serbia, who went 2-1 in the group stage and last met Australia in the quarter-finals at Rio, where they won 73-71.
