Pacific Life Re, the global life and health reinsurer and wholly owned subsidiary of Pacific Life, has bolstered its protection business in Asia Pacific with senior appointments.
Tyson Johnston, the current Managing Director of the Australian business and Head of Global Protection Strategy, has been promoted to Managing Director, Protection, Asia Pacific & Global Strategy.
He will now be guiding the reinsurer’s growth in the Asia Pacific region, building on the success seen in Australia. Johnston will continue to report to Andrew Gill, Executive Vice President of Global Protection for Pacific Life Re.
Martyn Gilling, with over 25 years of industry experience in Australia and overseas, currently serves as the Head of Client Solutions, Australia. He will assume many of Johnston’s previous responsibilities in a new role as General Manager, Protection, Australia.
The Australian protection business will now be led by Gilling, and the Asian protection business will continue to be led by Vasan Errakiah, who will both report to Johnston.
Additionally, Matthew Larkin has been named as the Head of Client Solutions, Australia, to spearhead the firm’s protection market strategy and sales initiatives.
