Mollie O’Callaghan made an alarming admission after being pipped by clubmate Ariarne Titmus in the 200m freestyle tonight.
O’Callaghan, the previous world record holder and 2023 world champion, was asked how it felt to no longer be the hunted, rather the hunter.
“To be honest, I was always overlooked, I wasn’t really out there, which I do appreciate a lot [because] I can just fly under the radar,” O’Callaghan told reporters.
“I’ve got to look at the positive side and really take the pressure off me because heading into this I was not in a good place.”
Urged to elaborate on that remark, she said: “I couldn’t really sleep last night”.
