Queensland Cricket has announced today Stephen Dionysius as the inaugural recipient of the Queensland Cricket Representative Match Official of the Year award.
Dionysius has been recognised for his unwavering commitment to professionalism, both on and off the field, his exceptional on-field performance, and his invaluable contributions to the Queensland umpiring and cricketing community through his off-field endeavours.
His elevation to Cricket Australia’s Supplementary Umpire Panel during the 2022-23 season was a testament to his proficiency and promise. Since then, he has officiated in revered competitions such as the Sheffield Shield and Marsh One Day Cup, showcasing his skills on the grand stage of Australian cricket. Making his debut in these competitions in the same season underscored his rapid ascent and aptitude for top-tier officiating.
Dionysius’s involvement extends across various Cricket Australia competitions, including the Men’s and Women’s Big Bash League, Second XI and the Women’s National Cricket League.
Off the field, Dionysius’s is also a member of the Queensland Cricket Umpire’s & Scorer’s Association. As a member of the Management Committee, his involvement in training and development initiatives ensures that aspiring umpires receive the guidance and mentorship needed to thrive in their roles. Dionysius’s commitment to nurturing emerging talent reflects his deep-seated belief in the importance of fostering a strong umpiring community for the betterment of cricket at all levels.
