HILTON HEAD ISLAND — Scottie Scheffler is now +450 to win the PGA Championship, +500 to win the US Open, and +600 to win the Open Championship. I guess it’s time to jump on those 6-1 odds for Royal Troon!

All kidding aside, what a performance at the 88th Masters. I’ve been critical over the past year as to whether or not Scheffler has that killer mentality and if the Tiger Woods comparisons are fair. Truth is the comparisons aren’t fair yet, but I believe Scottie is just getting started.

It’s a quick trip from Augusta National Golf Club up to Hilton Head. Our fifth signature event of season takes place at Harbour Town Golf Links with approximately 70 players competing for four rounds (no cut). Twenty-million dollars will catch everyone’s attention even just a week after a very difficult test. When the odds dropped Monday morning, there were some major movers on the board from just a week ago.
A signature status event offers us almost the same field as the Masters. Going into last week, the odds board did not accurately reflect the final leaderboard; except Mr. Scheffler! Rory McIlroy finished 22nd and started the week as the leading contender against Scottie. Next was defending champion Jon Rahm. Rahm finished 45th. Sigh. Looking ahead to Hilton Head, watch out for the biggest movers on the board.

Max Homa was 75-1 heading down Magnolia Lane and now sits in the low 20s for the RBC Heritage. Collin Morikawa with two major championships to his credit was 50-1 a week ago and rests on the betting board next to his fellow Cal alumni Homa. This is the key to the odds drop, finding value. I’m excited about Cam Davis at 50-1. He has two straight top-seven finishes in the lowcountry and showed incredible form at Augusta.

Nine of the past 10 winners of the RBC Heritage played the Masters in the week prior. I believe it is okay to use that leaderboard to your advantage when determining the best value.
