Tennis Australia has announced an exciting partnership with Red Bull, introducing the Red Bull Bassline event as part of the Australian Open 2025 Opening Week. Scheduled for Tuesday, 7 January at Rod Laver Arena, the event will showcase a unique tiebreak format designed to bring fans closer to the players while creating a dynamic atmosphere.
Red Bull Bassline will feature six world-class tennis players competing in a fast-paced tournament. The format includes short tiebreaks of up to five points, with matches decided in a best-of-three structure. Players will be divided into groups through a round-robin draw, and the absence of chair officials will encourage on-court decision-making, adding an interactive element to the competition.
Fans attending the event can look forward to an immersive experience, with courtside player warm-ups, live DJ performances, and 15-time Grand Slam champion Dylan Alcott as the host. Tennis Australia’s Chief Commercial Officer, Cedric Cornelis, emphasised that the initiative complements the Opening Week’s vibrant atmosphere, offering a chance for fans to engage more closely with the players in an electric atmosphere.
This partnership marks Red Bull’s first collaboration with a Grand Slam event, positioning the company as the Official Energy Drink Partner of the Australian Open. Red Bull will have a strong presence throughout the tournament, with energy drinks and mixed cocktails available across the event precinct, including activations at Grand Slam Oval and the newly launched TOPCOURT area.
Red Bull’s involvement extends beyond the Australian Open to include Padel Australia, reflecting the brand’s growing investment in both tennis and padel. Recent initiatives include professional events in Europe and exclusive broadcasting rights for the Premier Padel Tour via Red Bull TV.
The Red Bull Bassline event, with its innovative format and emphasis on fan engagement, underscores a broader trend of integrating entertainment into traditional sports to attract new audiences. Tickets for the event are set to go on sale in early December, promising an unforgettable start to the Australian Open 2025.
