The South Australian Chamber of Mines and Energy (SACOME) has announced that 38 per cent of its members have made up InDaily’s 2024 South Australian Business Index.
InDaily’s South Australian Business Index is a ranking of SA’s top 100 local companies by market capitalisation and revenue over the financial year.
Mining companies and SACOME members such as Andromeda Metals, Hillgrove Resources, Rex Minerals and Magnetite Mines made the list, along with notable oil and gas companies such as Beach Energy and Copper Energy.
Rex Minerals, which is developing the Hillside copper-gold project in SA, has moved up the Index by 23 places. Hillgrove Resources, the operator of the Kanmantoo copper mine in SA, has moved up one spot from the previous year.
Energy company Santos has kept its first position for the tenth year in a row, celebrating 70 years of energy leadership in 2024.
Exact Contracting – an agriculture, civil and mining industry solutions provider – was crowned the winner of the South Australian Rising Star Award, rising from the 78th spot in 2023 to the 28th spot in 2024.
“Over the past 45 years, SACOME has grown alongside South Australia’s resources sector,” SACOME chief executive officer Rebecca Knol said.
“It is a privilege to advocate for and on behalf the sector which makes up a significant percentage of the 2024 SA Business Index’s total value.
“The dominance of the resources sector in the 2024 SA Business Index highlights the critical need to empower educators to teach STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) skills, increase student interest in technology-based career pathways, and support the future skilled-talent pipeline crucially needed for the South Australian resources sector and other essential industries.”
Other resources companies included on the 2024 Index includes Renascor Resources, Terramin Australia and Havilah Resources.
