Richmond Tiger Noah Balta charged with assault

Richmond Tiger Noah Balta has been charged with assault by NSW Police following an alleged altercation on Monday, the club has said.

According to NSW Police, Balta was allegedly involved in an incident that took place at a sports club in the NSW town of Mulwala, on the border with Victoria.

The alleged incident led to a 27-year-old man being taken to Yarrawonga Hospital in a stable condition for “a laceration to his head”, NSW Police said.

“The Richmond Football Club can confirm that AFL player Noah Balta has been charged with assault after an incident on the 30th December, 2024,” Richmond said in a statement.

“As the matter is now before the courts the club can make no further comment.

“The club has made the AFL aware of the incident.”

NSW Police said they were called to a sports club at Mulwala at around 12:30am after reports of an assault.

Police said a 25-year-old man, Balta, was arrested at Mulwala Police Station on Tuesday.

“He was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and given conditional bail to appear before Corowa Local Court on Thursday 30 January 2025,” police said.

Balta has played 104 games with the Tigers, winning a premiership with them in 2020.

In the off-season he signed a seven-year extension with the Tigers, keeping him at the club until 2032.
