If Ricky Ponting wasn’t a fan favourite before, he is now after footage of a post-game act went viral.
The Australian cricket legend was seen spending time with rising Indian star Angkrish Raghuvanshi after his side lost their most recent IPL match on Tuesday (AEST).

Ponting’s Dehli Capitals fell to the Kolkata Knight Riders after registering only 153 runs in their innings.
Mitchell Starc’s team made light work of the run chase as they hunted down the total to secure a seven wicket victory with 21 balls remaining.
But it was what Ponting, 49, did as players from both sides came together following the match that really stole the show.
Eighteen-year-old wunderkind Raghuvanshi is widely tipped to be a future star of the Indian squad after being the leading run scorer during the U19 World Cup in 2022.
Ponting was seen pulling the teen aside and offering up some batting advice on how to pull off his trademark pull shot.
Raghuvanshi hasn’t featured in Kolkata’s previous two innings having not been required as the top order took care of business.
The upload of the moment, which you can watch in the video player above, has been viewed close to 200,000 times and drew widespread praise from the cricket world.
One user wrote: “Ricky Ponting giving lessons to Angkrish Raghuvanshi about Pull shots.”
A second wrote: “Changed my views about Punter.”
A third added: “This is the best part of IPL. A young Kid gets to learn from the very best.”
A fourth wrote: “Learning the art of pull short from the God of pull shot.”
The in-form Phil Salt, an England wicketkeeper-batsman, led Kolkata’s chase with an opening stand of 79 with Sunil Narine and the two-time champions reached their target with 3.3 overs to spare.
He reached his fourth half-century of the season in 26 balls with a six off Khaleel Ahmed but fell to spinner Axar Patel after his 33-ball knock laced with seven fours and five sixes.
Skipper Shreyas Iyer, who made 33, and Venkatesh Iyer, who hit the winning six in his 23, steered the team home in an unbeaten stand of 57.
“It is high-risk but it is also about putting the odds in your favour and not taking the risks you don’t want to,” Salt said of his attacking game.
“You just have to keep backing yourself and keep taking the right options.”
