Scottie Scheffler’s ‘Paris Goal’ should terrify his opponents at the Olympics – Australian Golf Digest

Growing up, many of the professional golfers competing in the Olympics this week weren’t dreaming about winning a gold medal. They were dreaming about the green jacket, the claret jug, the Wanamaker and the U.S. Open trophy.

One thing we’ve heard from all the Olympic golfers this week, though, is that a gold medal might just slot in right behind those four trophies. Once these golfers fully immerse themselves in the Summer Games and everything that goes with them, they begin to understand just how special winning a medal for their country would be.

That’s why it should come as no surprise that when many of the biggest stars at Le Golf National were asked what their “Pairs Goal” was this week, almost all of them said some version of “winning a medal.” Some examples below:

Some players, like Sweden’s Ludvig Aberg, were a little less ambitious, writing “medal.” Ditto that for England’s Tommy Fleetwood and New Zealand’s Ryan Fox. But the goal was similar for just about everyone – get on that podium.

Well, everyone except Scottie Scheffler’s, whose answer to “My Paris Goal” should terrify the rest of the field in France this week:

Have fun. Oh, yeah, this thing is over. “Have fun” is what Scottie Scheffler has been doing this entire PGA Tour season, and his version of “have fun” is never missing a shot and dominating his peers while looking like he’s bored out of his mind doing so. While everyone else has their sights set on a gold medal, Scheffler is just aw shucks-ing everyone to death and trying to enjoy his time in Paris which, judging by the odds board, should end with him biting down on gold this Sunday. Yeah, he’s gonna have fun alright.
