Manager of cluBarham’s Golf and Sports Club Sienna Voglis will represent Australia in this year’s Women’s PGA Cup in Oregon in October.
Sienna is one of five women on the Australian team after two days of qualifying at Sandhurst Club.
Queenslander Katelyn Must and Victorian Jenna Hunter both tied at the top of the qualifying at 5-under after the two rounds. Grace Lennon from Victoria finished in third place, and previous Australian captain Lisa Jean, who coaches at Royal Canberra, finished fourth after 36 holes.
Sienna tied for fifth and was successful in a playoff with Jessica Cook. Heading back to the first tee of the Champions Course at Sandhurst, Cook pulled her tee-shot left and struggled from there, while Voglis held steady to secure the final spot.
“I actually played with Jessica for that day. We both started on the same score, so we were back and forth all day round, it was really good.
“I’m just excited to represent cluBarham and Barham in an international event; I can’t wait to get over there.”
This will be Sienna’s second time representing Australia, having competed in Texas in 2019, three months after giving birth to her daughter.
“This year, I just wanted to make sure I got in to represent and to play a bit of golf around. The first year was a bit challenging.
“I’m so excited and the whole club has been talking about it.
“I’m probably the only one who hasn’t played on the tour since 2016, so it’s great to represent the non-tour players.”
Australia will be up against teams from Canada, Great Britain and Ireland, South Africa, Sweden and the United States.
