Our digital platforms are home to some of Australia’s most-compelling digital storytelling and our breaking news service is relied upon by Australians to provide fast and accurate coverage regardless of the time of day.

The role:

The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) has an opportunity for an overnight supervising producer to oversee the running of the ABC News website and app during Australian nighttime hours (from 22:00 Australian Eastern Standard Time). • Commission, sub and publish digital content from across the ABC’s domestic and international operations
  • Drive and commission exclusive and original content and specialised digital coverage with an audience-first focus
  • Communicate effectively with senior editorial staff and make smart decisions about the shape and direction of content being created

About you:

You will have considerable experience as a digital journalist and a broad knowledge of world news events. Experience covering Australian news is not required, but you must be willing to learn fast.

You will:

  • be a great writer who can identify trusted sources and put together stories at speed
  • relish working under pressure and making decisions for yourself
  • be a skilled sub-editor, complete with a keen eye for legal and editorial risks
  • have sound news judgment, particularly relating to the needs of digital audiences
  • be a team player who can successfully work with colleagues remotely

About ABC News:
