Rohit Sharma was at his sizzling best as he tormented Australian bowlers in the final match of the Super 8 stage to put India in the driver’s seat. Rohit smashed eight sixes and seven boundaries en route his 92-run innings off 41 deliveries. 

Every Australian bowler, bar Josh Hazlewood was hit to all parts of the park. Australia’s premier strike bowler, Mitchell Starc faced the ultimate wrath of Rohit who smashed him for 29 runs in one over. 

During the innings, Rohit shattered Yuvraj Singh’s record for the most sixes in an innings of a T20 World Cup match. Hitman also broke the record for the fastest fifty by a captain in T20 World Cup history, previously held by ex-Bangladesh skipper Mohammad Ashraful.

Suryakumar Yadav, who batter briefly with Rohit in the middle, said it ‘felt like a dream’ watching the right dasher in full flow.
