A golf course on a Tasmanian island with less than 2000 residents has been named Australia’s best.
The Cape Wickham golf course on King Island has taken the number-1 title on The Australian Golf Digest’s top 100, previously held by Royal Melbourne Golf Club’s West Course.
It’s only the second time in 40 years the Royal Melbourne Golf Club have been dethroned from their #1 spot on the list.
Cape Wickham only opened in 2015, but experts say it makes up for its young age with stunning coastal views.
Two courses near Bridport in Tasmania’s north-east made the top 10, with Barnbougle’s Dunes ranking #4, while Barnbougle’s Lost Farm ranked #7.
Ocean Dunes, another course on King Island, ranked at 13 on the list.
