Teen reaches new heights ahead of Australian Open debut

Teen sensation Maya Joint has reached a new career high after thrashing former Australian Open semi finalist Magda Linette at the Hobart International.

Joint defeated the world No.38 in straight sets to book her spot in the final eight where she will Sofia Kenin.

The 6-1, 6-1 victory was the first time Joint had defeated a player ranked inside the top 50, but her first-round win over Olga Danilovic, world No.53, proved a promising sign.

Joint, the third-highest ranked Australian woman, is set to make her Australian Open debut at Melbourne Park this weekend.

“I feel really good,” she said post-match.
