Scottie Scheffler is a lot of things. World No.1, fantastic striker of the ball and liked by all.

What he hadn’t been able to do the past two seasons is, despite coming to the Tour Championship leading the FedEx Cup points race, is win the Tour Championship. Now Scheffler can tick that one off his shrinking list of things he hasn’t accomplished.

The PGA Tour likes to tout its regular season as “every shot counts” and that held true for Scheffler as the minus-10 start he was staked to at East Lake proved to be pivotal as Collin Morikawa was two shots better for the 72 holes in Georgia, but Scheffler prevailed.

Still, Scheffler truly earned the win. He made 24 birdies and an eagle with his TaylorMade Spider Tour putter. The club, which he put into play earlier this year, is a half-inch longer than his previous gamer and has an L-Neck hosel and TaylorMade’s True Path alignment aid with a full line sightline on top.

The putter has 3 degrees of loft with a lie angle of 72 degrees. The face is an 80/20 TaylorMade Pure Roll insert, and the grip is a Golf Pride pistol. He ranked third in strokes gained/putting gaining more than four shots on the field.

Scheffler was strong off the tee as well, finishing first in strokes gained/off the tee with his 8-degree TaylorMade Qi10 with a Fujikura Ventus Black 7X shaft. Scheffler not only used the club to pick up a bunch of strokes on the field, but hit a lot of fairways, too. On a course where it helps to hit the short stuff, Scheffler hit 38 of 56 fairways to rank second for the week.

Into the greens, Scheffler also ranked first in strokes gained/approach the green, gaining more than four shots on the field. Scheffler’s irons are TaylorMade P7TW irons, a muscleback blade model based off Tiger Woods’ irons.

“I grew up playing Nike clubs like Tiger, so these had a special appeal to me,” Scheffler told Golf Digest last year. “I figured if he was using the irons they had to be pretty good.”

With a seventh PGA Tour win on the year, it might be Tiger who figures Scheffler’s irons have to be pretty good.
