The Australian star all-rounder, Mitchell Marsh faced a hamstring injury and was ruled out of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The 32-year-old cricketer returned to Australia after facing a sideline in the cash-rich league.
As the T20 World Cup is knocking at the door, the Australian Cricket team announced their 15-man squad that will be travelling to West Indies and the USA for the marquee tournament.
The Delhi Capitals (DC) cricketer faced an injury against Kolkata Knight Riders and missed the next two games against Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants.
The Australian T20I captain for World Cup 2024, Mitchell Marsh, has expressed himself and confirmed that his recovery from the hamstring is ‘on the track’ and he will surely recover soon.
Initially, the recovery is taking longer than expected but he makes a confirmation that he will be fit and fine in Australia’s first World Cup match against Oman on June 6, 2024, in Barbados.
“The hammy is good, it’s coming along really well, It’s pretty much exactly where we want it to be. It’s one of those things. Just got to get it right over the next three weeks and get on the plane. If we had to play tomorrow, I would be in a bit of trouble. Still a couple of weeks away, and the timing probably sits perfectly barring any setbacks,” Mitchell Marsh was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.
The hamstring injury is a fact of concern for the Australian team and this is the reason Cameron Green has been included in the 15-man squad ahead of in-form Jake Fraser-McGurk.
