‘The Team That Everybody Will Always Remember’, Ben Stokes Takes A Dig At Australia

After the fourth Test in Ashes 2023 at Old Trafford, Manchester was drawn, the English skipper Ben Stokes’ remarks for his team have come into consideration where he can be spotted lifting his team’s spirit after they could not regain the urn. Meanwhile, rain-affected England’s hopes of regaining the urn after Australia were behind by 61 runs in the second innings having five wickets in hand.

The excessive rain gave an early end to the Test, helping the Aussies retain the urn. The ECB came up with a documentary, featuring dressing room footage from the historic series where Stokes was spotted giving a pep talk to his teammates after their hopes of winning the Ashes were shattered by rain.

“And what we have managed to do is we’ve managed to become a sports team that will live forever in the memory of people who were lucky enough to witness us play cricket. But what we have done is something a lot bigger than any Ashes trophy could ever signify for this team – be the team that everybody will always remember,” stated Stokes in the ‘Ashes 2023 | Our Take’ produced by England and Wales Cricket Board.

Ever since Stokes took the leadership onus, the English team have been playing aggressive cricket. They came up with a term called, ‘Bazball’ as it came from English coach Brendon McCullum.

During the beginning of the Bazball, England lost just two out of their first 13 Tests, the next 10 saw them lose six matches which included a 2-2 draw against Australia in Ashes 2023 and a 1-4 loss vs India away.

The English team will be taking on the West Indies in a three-match Test series starting from July 10. The iconic first Test at Lord’s will be the last game for legendary pacer James Anderson’s career.
