Travis Head is the latest Australian cricketer to deny any rift between the players after the 295-run defeat in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 against India. The left-handed batter claimed that there was no friction, and the players went out together.
Josh Hazlewood’s comment that ‘you have to ask the batters’ led to speculations when asked how the team would chase down the 534-run target against India. Former cricketers Michael Vaughan and Ravi Shastri felt there were some cracks in the Aussie dressing room. Speaking to 7news, Head stated that there was no problem.
“I think people have taken Josh Hazlewood’s comment in the wrong context, but that’s fine. It is OK to get criticized, and we understand that. We had some conversations, but there were no fractions. All the boys went out together last night,” he said.
Australia have won 11 pink-ball matches out of 12 Tests so far, but Head feels the team can’t relax ahead of the day-night Test against India in Adelaide.
“We play the Pink-Ball Test there, and we will have to do our best in the game against India. You can’t guarantee anything. But there is no reason why we can’t bounce back.”
