We have equal favourites in the Melbourne Cup (3200m) this afternoon in what looks a very open race.

It is $7 the field, headlined by 2023 favourite Vauban, an Irish raider returning for redemption. He sits alongside Buckaroo, who was the eye catcher and the best run of the traditional lead up, the Caulfield Cup.

Geelong Cup winner Onesmoothoperator sits on the next line of betting at $8.50, and they are the lone runners at single figures, with next best being Absurde at $10.
