With a sixth-place finish at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai, Tyrrell Hatton ended up taking home $316,000 for his 10-under performance. The problem is that Hatton will have to send some of that money back after snapping his club in an expletive-laden outburst on Saturday.

After missing a short birdie putt on the 11th, Hatton exclaimed “f*** you, f****** s*** greens” and slammed his putter. Soon after, he snapped his wedge on the par-5 14th after missing the green on an approach shot. He immediately chipped in for birdie, but the damage was done by then.

This follow the hot-headed Englishman eviscerating the Earth Course’s par-5 18th on Friday, which just so happens to have been designed by his boss Greg Norman. “I despise everything about this hole,” Hatton said looking over the 18th fairway. “A truly awful golf hole.”

That’s a lot of anger in just a few short days and Sky Sports Golf commentator Ewen Murray went off on the PGA and LIV winner’s antics.

“Oh no, no. It’s time for change, I’m afraid,” Murray said. “What a terrible influence on the next generation. I’m sorry to say it. I’m his biggest supporter as a golfer. But just have a look at this. Why? Why would you do that? We’ve all had our moments but he’s having too many of them.”

Fellow commentator and four-time Euro Tour winner Paul McGinley agreed that all of this was “not acceptable.”

The pushback was so severe that Hatton wrote himself a cheeky reminder before the final round on Sunday. He didn’t lose his cool over the last 18 holes, so maybe it worked?

Sometimes (well, not usually) you have to jot down “Be nice :)” in order to keep it all together. It was a nice note, but not enough to evade a punishment.

A spokesperson for the DP World Tour said as much: “Tyrrell Hatton’s behavior breached the DP World Tour’s Code of Conduct within the Members’ General Regulations and he will be fined as a result.”
