UPDATE: Jeffrey Guan released from Sydney Eye Hospital after freak accident – Australian Golf Digest

The governing golf bodies of Australia and New South Wales have provided an update on rising star tour pro Jeffrey Guan, who has been released from hospital after being struck in the eye socket by a stray golf ball in Batemans Bay on September 21.

Guan, who made his PGA Tour debut at the Procore Championship in California earlier in September, where he opened with an impressive three-under-par round before missing the cut by one shot, had returned home to Australia to play a regional qualifying event for the NSW Open on the South Coast when he was reportedly struck in the eye by an errant 3-wood during the pro-am.

On Wednesday, Golf Australia, Golf NSW, and the PGA of Australia provided a statement on Guan’s condition:

“[We] remain mindful of the community’s ongoing concern for Jeffrey Guan following his recent on-course accident.

Jeffrey has now been discharged from the Sydney Eye Hospital. While he is no longer under constant medical supervision, there is still no clear timeline for his recovery, and the long-term prognosis remains uncertain at this stage.

Jeff’s recovery is only just beginning, and it is expected to be a long and challenging journey.

The three organisations, Golf Australia, Golf NSW, and the PGA of Australia continue to maintain close daily contact with Jeffrey’s family, offering support as they navigate the challenges ahead.

We are dedicated to ensuring that Jeffrey receives the best possible medical care and that his family is assisted in every way during this difficult time.
