The LPGA Tour announced overnight (Australian time) that Valhalla Golf Club, which has hosted four PGA Championships and a Ryder Cup, will be the site of the Solheim Cup in 2028. The course in Louisville, Kentucky, is the fourth venue to have a Solheim Cup and Ryder Cup, alongside Gleneagles, Muirfield Village and The Greenbrier.

The 2028 Solheim will be the first time the LPGA plays in Kentucky in more than 50 years. The last event in the commonwealth was the Bluegrass Invitational, held at Hunting Creek Country Club in Prospect, Kentucky, which ran from 1965 to 1974. The Cup will be the first major women’s event held at Valhalla, which has held the four PGA Championships, two Senior PGA Championships and the 2008 Ryder Cup, won by the US 16½-11½.

This year’s Solheim Cup will be played from September 13-15 at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, Virginia. The Netherlands will host for the first time at Bernardus Golf in 2026. The 2028 Cup will be held late in the northern hemisphere summer or early autumn.
