Before being struck down with injury, the 26-year-old had taken nine wickets in three innings.
After Lyon limped off the field, Australia subsequently took a 2-0 series lead with a 43-run victory.
It’s impossible to know whether the series result would have been different if Lyon had featured in the final three Test matches but his absence was certainly felt by the Australian side.
The visitors went on to retain the Ashes urn despite England drawing the series 2-all after prevailing in the third and fifth Tests.
Lyon has previously spoken of how the injury left him in a “very dark place” as he returned to Australia to complete his recovery, however the footage shows just how distraught he was in the heat of the moment.
In what was an explosive five-Test series, the docuseries also spotlights Australian players being verbally abused by members of Lord’s prestigious Long Room during a confrontation as they came from the field during the second Test.
Three MMC members were suspended as a result.
This followed wicketkeeper Alex Carey’s controversial stumping dismissal of England’s Jonny Bairstow, which had the English enraged for the remainder of the series and in the aftermath.
