W Sydney is turning into a high fashion house for charity this Saturday – News Hub

The Australian Fashion Federation’s inaugural Charity Fashion Gala will be held in Sydney this weekend with the aim of raising vital funds for a heartbreaking crisis currently gripping the nation.
Blending high fashion and philanthropy in an evening of elegance, the showcase will be held at W Sydney on Saturday 21 September and is in support of RizeUp Australia, a charity dedicated to helping families affected by domestic violence.
The charity’s Founder and CEO Nicolle Edwards, says they are thrilled to partner with the Australian Fashion Federation on the upcoming event to further their mission to empower families and break the cycle of abuse.
‘RizeUp Australia is a community-driven organisation of passionate men and women dedicated to supporting families affected by domestic and family violence and we look forward to being part of this showcase of the industry’s outstanding creatives,’ says Nicolle.
‘From prestigious events such as this gala to our daily advocacy efforts, our mission is to provide hope to those experiencing violence, giving them the courage to break free from the cycle of abuse and build a life of safety and dignity.’
So far this year, 51 women have lost their lives as a result of domestic violence.
‘Instances of domestic and family violence are reported every two minutes in Australia, making it crucial to raise awareness and funds for those in need, and this event is a significant step toward achieving that goal,’ says Nicolle.
With household names supporting the event, RizeUp ambassador Cameron Daddo is MC with Ali Daddo also taking to the stage.
‘In the five years we have worked alongside RizeUp, we have taken every opportunity to drive awareness of domestic violence within society and this gala will give us a fantastic opportunity to encourage people to volunteer, donate, and help out however they can,’ says Cameron.
‘We are incredibly honoured to be involved in welcoming this event to the Australian fashion scene and using it as a platform to make a meaningful impact on such a critical issue.’
Jasmine Stringer, the reigning Miss World Australia and ambassador for the Australian Fashion Federation looks forward to showcasing the latest industry trends at its inaugural event.
‘I’m thrilled to be part of such an incredible event bringing together Australia’s vibrant and diverse fashion landscape, reflecting the nation’s unique cultural identity and creative spirit,’ says Jasmine.
‘Domestic violence is an issue that is close to my heart and while I’m passionate about helping spotlight the evolving landscape of our fashion industry, I’m proud to also share in making a tangible difference to the lives of those affected by domestic violence,’ says Jasmine.
Launched in 2023, the Australian Fashion Federation (AFF) is a not-for-profit that serves to unite, innovate, and elevate the Australian fashion industry.
‘Australia’s fashion industry is renowned for its support of emerging talent and innovation, and the Australian Fashion Federation is proud to serve as the preeminent authority representing the Australian fashion community on local, national, and global stages,’ says Jasmine.
AFF unites a wealth of fashion schools, incubators, and mentorship programs, aspiring designers with access to resources and opportunities to nurture their creativity and further develop their skills.
Recently, AFF collaborated with Malaysian Haute Couture & RTW Brand and The Atelier on a showcase in Malaysia that was creatively directed by Professor Jimmy Choo.
Other events by AFF include Gold Coast Swim Week which launched in February with the second instalment being held from 4 – 6 October.
Through these events, AFF shares its ongoing commitment to spotlighting Australian designers and trends on both national and international stages while supporting valuable causes.
