Watch Donald Trump invite Bryson DeChambeau onto the stage during his victory speech – Australian Golf Digest

In July, Bryson DeChambeau invited Donald Trump onto his YouTube channel for an episode of his “Breaking 50” series. And overnight (Australian time), the US president-elect returned the favour with an invite of his own.

Before we get to that, we understand if you’re burned out from all the American election coverage. And if you’d prefer golf – including your golf coverage – to be free of politics.

However, it isn’t often that a guy who has just won an election for the highest office in the USA wants to single out a pro golfer. So here’s the video of Trump and his golf mate during his victory speech at the Palm Beach County Convention Center:

As you can see, Trump heaps praise on the US Open champion and points out that Bryson “hits the ball a little longer than me”, but then is puzzled by where he is. “Aww, he was shy,” Trump says at one point in the clip, before joking that “he’s hitting balls”.

But then Bryson emerges – yes, wearing a black MAGA hat – and comes up on the stage. “Aww, look at him,” Trump continues as DeChambeau shakes a few hands and waves to the crowd. “He’s got a great career going. Great US Open, Bryson, that’s a fantastic job.” And then Trump moves on to acknowledging UFC chief executive Dana White.

OK, and now we’ll move on too.
