NEW DELHI: Prior to the Indian cricket team‘s two-day pink-ball practice match against the PM’s XI in Canberra starting on November 30, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese hosted a reception for the squad on Thursday.
The Manuka Oval will host the match, which will serve as a nice warm-up for the day-night Test in Adelaide starting on December 6.
In the first match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Perth, India crushed the hosts by 295 runs, recording their largest victory on Australian territory.
As per protocol, India captain Rohit Sharma presented all of his colleagues to Albanese, who commended Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah as first Test heroics.
On Friday, the Indian cricket board (BCCI) shared a video of the Rohit Sharma-led team’s visit to the Australian Parliament house in Canberra.
The Indian Cricket Team was hosted by the Honourable Anthony Albanese MP, Prime Minister of Australia.
The video shows Albanese meeting all the Indian cricketers before Rohit Sharma addressed the Parliament.
He emphasized in his speech the longstanding bilateral ties between Australia and India, as well as their mutual passion for cricket.
Additionally, he stated that Indian players relish the challenge of playing in Australia and take pleasure in discovering the nation and its customs.
“Big challenge ahead for the PM’s XI at Manuka Oval this week against an amazing Indian side,” the Australian Prime Minister posted on ‘X’ after the meeting at the Australian parliament.
The PM’s XI, led by Jack Edwards, also called on Albanese.
Replying to Albanese’s post, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote on ‘X’ that he was glad to see his good friend with the Indian and PM’s XI teams.
He said, “Team India is off to a great start in the series and 1.4 billion Indians are strongly rooting for the Men in Blue. I look forward to exciting games ahead.”
