Yuvraj Singh turned back the clock by smearing 59 runs from just 28 balls against Australia Champions in the semifinal of the 2024 World Championship of Legends. Turning up for India Champions at Northampton County Ground, the legendary all-rounder leathered five sixes and four boundaries to blaze his team to 254-6 from 20 overs after they were put into bat first.
Through the course of his whirlwind half-century, Yuvraj Singh also maintained his Impervious track record against the Australians in knockout matches.
Batting at number four and arriving to the crease at 56-2 in 4.4 overs, India Champions captain Yuvraj Singh smacked 59 runs from just 28 deliveries to blaze his team past the 150-run mark in less than 14 overs alongside fellow half-centurions Robin Uthappa and Yusuf Pathan.
Yuvraj launched four boundaries and five sixes, and took a special liking to Peter Siddle, Xavier Doherty and Ben Laughlin during the course of his turbulent knock.
Remarkably, this is not the first instance where Yuvraj Singh came up clutch against an Australian side in a knockout fixture. During his Team India playing days, the cricketer walloped the mighty Australians in the quarterfinals of the 2000 Champions Trophy, semifinal of the 2007 T20 World Cup and the quarterfinal of the 2011 ICC ODI World Cup.
Apart from Yuvraj Singh, India Champions opener Robin Uthappa charted 65 runs from 35 balls, while Irfan Pathan and Yusuf Pathan also bashed quickfire half-centuries in the backend of the innings. Owing to their collective efforts, India Champions raced to 254-6 by the end of their 20 overs.
