Australia’s women’s rugby sevens team have suffered a shock loss to Canada in the Olympic semi-finals.
While they won’t be able to battle for gold, a bronze medal is still up for grabs.
MORE: Full Australian schedule for Paris 2024
Here’s when the team is in action next:
Australia’s next game sees them take on the USA in the bronze medal match.
That clash is scheduled to start at 3:00 am AEST on Wednesday, July 31.
The final between New Zealand and Canada will begin 45 minutes later at 3:45 am AEST.
The Australian team had been lighting up the women’s sevens in Paris before their shock loss, brushing aside the challenges of South Africa and Great Britain, before rounding out the pool stage with a hard-fought win over Ireland.
Australia’s star player so far in the Women’s Rugby Sevens has been 22-year-old Gold Coast product Maddi Levi.
In just five games, Levi has scored an incredible 12 tries – a record for a single Olympics/
Levi is a multi-sport standout, having previously featured for the Gold Coast Suns AFLW team, leading their goalkicking in her maiden season in 2021 only to make the switch to rugby sevens full-time after one year.
Playing alongside her younger sister Teagan, who has pitched in with three tries of her own, Levi’s speed and strength should see her dominate the sport for years to come.
