Who is the AFL Draft no.1 pick?

Sam Lalor has been selected by Richmond as the no.1 pick in the 2024 AFL Draft.

The midfielder had been favourite to take the honour for a number of weeks after Josh Smillie, Jagga Smith and Finn O’Sullivan were also touted.

Who is Sam Lalor? The first selection in the 2024 AFL Draft

Lalor is an explosive midfielder-forward, whose game style has been likened to Dustin Martin and Cam Rayner.

Ironically, Lalor might take the famous no.4 jersey at Tigerland after being selected by Richmond at pick 1.

Lalor is a 188cm talent who played for Greater Western Victoria and Vic Country during his under 18 season.

He is expected to play plenty of AFL football in his debut season, much like Harley Reid did for West Coast as last season’s no.1 pick.

Possessing a huge talent for cricket also, Lalor ultimately chose Australian Rules, where he will enter the sport as the best talent of his age group.
