An import who has joined the champion Ciaron Maher stable and represents some good value for punters in the Melbourne Cup.

The lightly-raced stallion ran first, second, and third in consecutive races in England before being shipped to Australia and starting life under Maher in August.

While his results haven’t been outstanding in the four runs Down Under to date, Maher is one of the best in the business and will know how to prepare the horse for the Cup. Saint George’s fifth in the Moonee Valley Cup was promising and he has won up to 2916m overseas.

Intriguingly, entires (male horses that have not been gelded) have enjoyed most success in the Cup, producing 72 winners.

The $21 on offer on Sunday looks to be overs.
