Two changes have been made to Australia’s tennis team for Paris 2024 with Olivia Gadecki teaming up with Ajla Tomljanovic in women’s doubles and Chris O’Connell dropping out due to injury.
Tomljanovic, the 31-year-old Croatian-born star, had already been selected for singles competition but is now also set to play with Gadecki, the 22-year-old Gold Coast product, after Australia secured another doubles quota place.
O’Connell had been selected for men’s singles but, several days after losing to American Taylor Fritz in the first round of Wimbledon, has pulled out injured.

The Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) confirmed the team changes in a statement on Friday.
“Congratulations to Olivia on earning her Olympic debut in Paris in the women’s doubles,” said chef de mission Anna Meares.
“It is a great reward for a fantastic season.
“I know how hard it can be to manage injuries and I wish Chris the best in returning to full health as soon as possible.”
Alex de Minaur, Alexei Popyrin and Rinky Hijikata will compete for Australia in men’s singles, while Tomljanovic is the only Australian woman set for singles competition.
