Hannah Green has thrown her hat into the ring for a maiden Australian Open title with a sensational second round on Friday.
The major champion mixed four birdies with three bogeys during a one-under-par 71 at Victoria Golf Club. After an opening 67 at Kingston Heath she sat seven-under after two rounds and took the clubhouse lead after the morning wave on day two.
Overnight leader, Melbourne’s Su Oh, and Hyojin Yang (amateur) were out in the afternoon wave. Defending champion for the past two Australian Opens, Ash Buhai, was four-under after a 68 at Victoria GC.
Green has set up a potential weekend showdown with her best friend, Oh, who teed off just after 12pm.
