The Istanbul meet, which runs till May 12, is the final opportunity for wrestlers to obtain a quota for the upcoming Summer Games. Three Paris 2024 Olympic quotas are on offer in each weight class. All bouts will be live streamed.
The two finalists in each division will obtain Paris 2024 Olympic quotas for their respective countries. The third spot, meanwhile, will go to the winner of the playoff bout between the two bronze medallists in the weight class.
At the continental qualifiers, only the top two from each division secured quotas.
Japan-born Masuda, who shifted allegiance to Australia in recent years, is the reigning Oceania champion in her category but was ousted in the quarter-finals of the African & Oceania qualifiers back in March.
Barns is also the Oceania champion in his weight class and fell in the quarters at the continental qualifiers in Alexandria.
Australia have won three medals – one silver and two bronze – at the Olympics. The last one, however, came at London 1948. No Australian wrestler competed at Tokyo 2020.
