Caroline Garcia announces return to tennis at the 2025 Australian Open

Caroline Garcia took to social media platform X to state when she will return to the WTA Tour at he Australian Open. In full flow, she is one of the most destructive players in the game and certainly has the ability to win a Grand Slam.

Winning a major is still a goal for Garcia when she returns to action, but she does not want to become obsessed with it as she prioritises her mental health.

“In just one month, if all goes well, I’ll step back onto the court at the Australian Open,” she wrote. “This is more than a return to competition—it’s a personal reckoning. Every day, I’m putting in the work, pushing myself to be ready both physically and mentally.

“I don’t want winning a Grand Slam or returning to the top 5 to be my goal anymore. I want those achievements to be the outcome—the result of being happy, working hard, and continuously improving as a player and a person.

“The focus is no longer on the destination, but on embracing the journey, with all its challenges and beauty. Winning has to be the outcome, not the goal.

“I want to do it not for the trophies, not for the rankings or for my environment’s expectations or dreams, but for the person I’ll become through the process.”

Where did Caroline Garcia play her last match?

Garcia played just 34 matches in 2024 and won 17, and failed to reach a final. Her best result was a semi-final appearance at the Open de Rouen, after she made the quarter-finals in Miami.

Garcia also reached the last four at the Guadalajara Open in September, where she lost 6-7, 5-7 to Poland’s Magdalena Fręch.

This proved to be Garcia’s final match of the 2024 season, as she announced that she was ending her campaign early after struggling with with anxiety and panic attacks.

“Mentally, I need a reset. I need to step away from the constant grind of tennis,” she said in September. “This year, my mindset was toxic.

“I lost touch with the joy of being a tennis player and became obsessed with rankings and wins. I’m exhausted from the anxiety, the panic attacks, the tears before matches. Tired of missing out on family moments and never having a place to truly call home.

“I’m tired of living in a world where my worth is measured by last week’s results, my ranking, or my unforced errors.”
